Reddit की main unit of content होती है उसकी “posts”, जो की केवल उसमें स्तिथ users ही submit कर सकते हैं जिनकी एक reddit account हो. एक “link post” में एक title होता है जो की किसी एक web page को link होता है internet पर. वहीँ एक “text post” में एक title के साथ साथ एक body of text होता है. दोनों link और text posts में एक comments section भी होता है जहाँ दुसरे users आसानी से post के विषय में discuss कर सकते हैं. Posts को उनके value के हिसाब से vote किया जाता है “up” और “ down ” redditors के द्वारा. जिन Posts को ज्यादा “upvotes” मिलते हैं वो page के ऊपर में आते हैं और users को ज्यादा visible होते हैं. यही up/down voting feature ही reddit को दुसरे traditional forums से अलग करती है.
